Hello, my name is Kayleigh Brewster. I have had the pleasure of moving to many different places. What makes a home? What made our houses a ‘home’ was that I felt safe and comfortable. What would have happened if my parents weren’t there? What would I have done if my safety and comfort are taken away? Tom measures 6 foot tall, chest 40 inches, inside leg 32 inches, neck 15 1/2 inches, his feet are size nine. A garden dweller, Tom’s hobbies include picking things up, putting things down, archaeology, architecture and cleaning. He seldom interacts with the inside world with the occasional exception of receiving a cup of tea.

Hi, my name is Sam. What happens when the most liveliest room in a house becomes lifeless and still. Would you feel relaxed and at ease ? In my room you will find remnants and clues of the past. Everyone always complains when they are young they just want to grow up, but when you’re old you are forever longing for the days when you were young and care free. But what about those caught in the in between place. Learning how to behave, caught between who you want to be and who others want you to be. My room makes me feel slightly omniscient, and I’m not sure I like that. But I have always found human behaviour fascinating, so having the opportunity to see how others behave in an environment where people watching is normally prohibited is exciting: especially when the environment is as intriguing as its inhabitants.

Hi I am Lauren Hughes. Our room can take you to any other room without moving a muscle. We’re not in a bedroom or a bathroom or any other typical room you would find in a home. Our room has the all-knowing, all seeing access no other room has to offer. The blind curator. Escaping in a galleria of mundane, banal, far away and fantastical. The treasures of everyday fall under his protection and they are yours to visit. Tactility governs his existence and sight is just a forgotten memory of yester-year. Why would you put a body there? Does it look right? Can you squeeze your body into that space? How does it feel? What if someone was watching you? Now how do you feel? I am watching you. I am in the small spaces. Come find me.

My name is Hayley. I’ll be the first person you encounter in our safe house; it will be my duty to prepare you for entry and to forewarn you of what is to come. Not that I’ll be divulging any secrets to you – be prepared, and don’t forget the password. I’m Louise, I’m about 15 hands high and have medium, black hair which I love to groom. I love walking, preferably between rooms, making things, and writing extensively. My ‘room’ in itself may look like a dead space but it leads you to many different places. Hi. I’m Jake. A second year Drama student at the University of Lincoln and a member of House Specific. Our House Specific work is solely in the bedroom, a room that is vital to us in every aspect of our lives. We will show the two exceedingly different sides of such a space, adulthood and childhood.

Hi, I’m Lauren Simpson. I am not very outgoing as I get quite tied down with my personal life and my work. It can be quite restricting. At times, I miss the safety and security of being at home with my parents. I long to be a child again.  The space I have inhabited is a place for cooking, eating and mingling. Being an open and friendly person, I believe this room suits me perfectly. Although putting something completely displaced, absurd and at first glance, quite terrifying into this room might just change the mood entirely. So, anyone fancy a cuppa?  Hi I’m Andy. I like things to be in their correct places most of the time and like, especially in the kitchen, to be in control. This rule, however much I engrave it in my head, sometimes decides to play up. When I’m not in focused my mind has no boundaries….

My name is Tiffany. I like to be around people and be safe. My room is the best room in the house it makes me feel at ease and relaxed. Could you relax in my room? We collect things over the years from birthdays to holidays, but how much?  Call me Jozey. A bathroom is generally a place we use alone; a safe, practical place, where we can strip ourselves of our pretences and, indeed, our clothes. As an avid bathroom user, I enjoy long baths, complete with candles and bubbles. Join me and tell me what the bathroom means to you… and who would you allow to see you in such a private place? I’m Lauren, I am working in the living room. Where I spend most of my time at home, this is what drew me to it. I like to be surrounded by people so I feel safe, but I also like silence and to be on my own with my thoughts.

The space I now ‘live’ in is small and where I usually think of monsters. While I am normally a lively and independent person, this space stops me, changes me. Ties me down and scares me. The private and dominating nature of this space is openly shown in an exposed form.
